Childbirth Education
I love teaching and even was a high school librarian for many years before coming back to birth work. Childbirth Education is important. It is a time for the parents to learn, be informed, and given tools to make the best decisions they can for their birth with healthy outcomes. I am always looking for ways to learn new things to teach about childbirth because it is so different for everyone. I love teaching hands on and making sure my couples feel confident in the birth they envision. There is so much to learn so I always suggest starting early with childbirth classes and finding out all your options, this is why I like Evidence Based teaching and working with families early and through the pregnancy for childbirth education.
Infant Massage & Messages Through Massage
I have been teaching Baby's First Massage for over 20+ years. This is one of my favorite things to teach moms, dads, grandparents and siblings. Really infant massage is great for the whole family to learn! I also teach a workshop focused on the benefits of massage and how it all promotes building a foundation for a stronger family unit by learning communication, bonding and learning to listen to the messages we are sending our baby because they are listening and send us messages back too. The body is amazing. Messages Through Massage starts early and Birthworkers can use these techniques and skills to help parents build relationships, listening to cues, communicate more effectively, bond, provide ways to help our littles relax, and the benefits go on.

Community
I love my community. I believe education plays a key role in understanding each other. I choose to teach during my student midwifery journey and probably will always continue to teach. I have a love for learning and sharing that with others. This is why I am always updating, learning more, finding ways to teach better, and open to new ideas. I believe in the natural process of birth and if you are a low-risk pregnant mom you have every right to pick how you birth. I will support all births, but believe you have the right to make decisions based on evidence and informed consent. I highly recommend having a doula, taking childbirth education classes, learning about breastfeeding and postpartum early.
